John Wisdom has been one of my closer friends in Boston for years and I'm psyched to have been the one to compile and edit his newest footage for a RAW feature. There isn't really much to say here... Also, I just finally got a chance to upload the Boston section from Focus Magazine's "Stay Focused." The video had parts from Philly, Baltimore, Florida, NYC, and Boston. Each section was edited by different people and compiled by Mike Mazur in the end. I enjoyed the video but wanted the Boston section to be able to shine on it's own as well. Enjoy.

So, I've been a bad blog owner. Firstly, about a month ago I uploaded Jenkins' Log Clip #27, featuring OJ Farrar, Waffle, Curt Daley, and John Wisdom. It was all from a couple of summer NY trips. Shout outs to Jonah Miller for housing us while we went. Good times!

A few days ago, I made a quick little commercial/teaser for Jenkins' Log. RAW and The Kayo Corp collaborated on an event titled "Boys of Summer," which took place at Conway Park in Somerville, MA a few weeks back. Steve and Kevin built some new stuff to be skated, on top of the boxes they had already built. Jenkins' Log Clip #26 features the documented skateboarding that went down at Conway.

Canon 7D x Jenkins Log = Log Clip #25

Already done with the 25th clip... I can remember the night I started editing the first one like it was yesterday and here we are, 2 years later on to the 25th. I picked up a new camera earlier this month - the Canon 7D - and have been extremely happy with the footage it's been putting out. This is just the first of many HD log clips to come. Enjoy.

Field Agent Report + Zeb Weisman

As you all know, I'd rather only update with original material created by yours truly for the Jenkins' Log series. It can't always be that way though... Luckily for you, last week was big for my footage and edits being used on the Internet and I'm here to update you with last week's drops.

First on the list is the "Zeb Weisman In France" edit for RAW. This edit has been ready to go for awhile, but it just made it up this week. Zeb was in Paris and Bordeaux for only a few short weeks, but that didn't stop The Judge from racking up enough footage for a nice section. Check it out!
Secondly, Zoo Yor k just came out with their "Field Agent Report," a 6-minute montage of the Zoo flow team, including the homie Gavin Macmahon-Nolan (who has been in nearly every log clip). The project turned out good and I'm especially hyped for Gavin to finally get some national and international recognition for his ripping. His section starts at 1:22. Props to RE1000 for his footage and RB Umali for the edit.
For those who don't quite realize how OG both RB and RE are, check the following links for RB's Transworld Skate "Cinematographer" section and Ray's Transworld Skate "Transmission 7" section. Both of these dudes know real skateboarding.

When the weather turns from winter to spring in Boston, it's a beautiful thing. Everyone seems to awake from their hibernation and suddenly, everyone is skating the city again. As new spots are popping up, old ones are getting shut down, but one thing remains constant - everyone still rips.

In other news, everyone by now should have heard that Guru of Gangstarr fame passed away yesterday after a long struggle with cancer. Guru is above the clouds, holding it down. In his memory, Mister Cee put together a Guru Tribute mix on Hot97 yesterday... Needless to say, if you need a crash course in Guru's repertoire, download this. Big ups to Guru...

Stay Focused and Jenkins' Log Clip #22

What's new? It's been awhile since the last post, but that's to be expected at this point. At least this time, I come to you with multiple clips to update with (and I even had something to do with all of them)!

Firstly, and more importantly, Focus Skate Mag released their second installment, "Stay Focused," to the whole internet world sometime last week. Major East Coast areas hold it down with full parts from Florida, Baltimore, Boston, Philly, and NYC. I edited and co-filmed the Boston part with some other homies and the video turned out pretty damn good overall. At least I'm happy with the Boston section, which starts at 08:34.

Secondly, Jenkins' Log Clip series is back with Clip #22. It's been a long winter (and I can only say that because the weather has FINALLY started to turn for the better) and that meant some serious skatepark sessions. Boston doesn't have any worthwhile indoor parks, however Subliminal Skatepark in Shrewsbury, MA was kind enough to let all of us skate this winter. This log clip was only filmed over the span of a few sessions though. Enjoy.

"This announcement is a result of progress. When we started RAW in early 2006, there were a few people who were instantly supportive of what we were doing. Devin “Waffle” Woelfel was one of those people. Waffle has been smack in the middle of the skateboard scene in Boston for a good amount of time, closely affliated with every single person that RAW has supported. Over the past few years, he has made contributions to our brand behind the scenes that have been very beneficial, including his concept for The North East Five Panel Cap this past winter and his submission of footage for Know The Ledge Volume Two.

Yes, the Jenkins' Log series hasn't gone anywhere... Forgive the hiatus, things will get back to normal soon. My camera and fisheye have taken a beating over the last few months and both of those are in the shop right now. The good news is, I'm making my annual trip to Budapest next Saturday and will definitely have a log clip with a sparkly, new fisheye and repaired camera shortly after my return.

This log clip one is made especially for Kyle McLaughlin aka Shitty Meats. It was meant to be for his 18th birthday, but I missed that deadline by a solid few months... Whoops!

So, Jenkins' Log has been in serious hibernation for the winter as the cold months have been pretty brutal in the Northeast this year. The weather's starting to come back though and that means skating again - well at least as often as I have time to. I'm also graduating (holy shit...) in like 5 weeks, so I've been busy as hell with trying to finish up my studies.

Mozy on over to 48 Blocks' site as they just featured a Western Edition x RAW edit commemorating the 25th anniversary of Marvin Gaye's passing. Needless to say, it turned out sick. You can peep it on Vimeo too. Word is that there will be t-shirts to commemorate it as well.

Also, Sebastien Abes recently put up a promo for Anagram's upcoming video called "Melting Pop." Fully HD, fully butters. Seb is the best in the biz as far as editing and filming goes - get his ass to America! Potential beyond belief.

Digging In The Crates... Again

So, I realize not updating the blog for two months makes me look lazy... But give me a break. The weather has not really given us any chance to skate outside on a regular basis. I mean, March 9th and it's still snowing in Boston. Don't worry, regularly scheduled Jenkins' Log clips will be back once the weather becomes skateable again. Also, I'm graduating university in two months (FUCK!) and my job search and schoolwork are starting to take over my life. Well, that's a lie. I've procrastinated until now for the most part, but it's about to take over my life. So, if you were wondering why this blog hasn't been updated in so long, those are my reasons.

Enough excuses, because the Internet doesn't care if I'm busy in the real world. After some digging in the crates, I found a year-old, 16mm short - my first experience shooting film on location. Sentimental value. I hope you can enjoy it.

I know it's been a wait for a new update, but I'm sorry... Unskateable weather doesn't leave me much to update with. It happens.

On another note, I gotta call attention to Nate Keegan's recent surgery. It's been about a month at this point, but he's been skating on a broken foot for nearly a year. He finally got some surgery and he'll be rehabing it for the next couple of months. Keep your eyes peeled though, he'll be back in action soon enough though. Get better, Nate...

On to the whole point of this post. I've never been a huge fan of recycling footage and such, but seeing that it's the end of the year and a lot of good footage came out of Boston, I decided to edit a little retrospective clip looking back at some of the footage that was released in the last year (at least the footage I've filmed). So a couple of weeks ago, DJ took a pretty bad fall and broke a bone in his back. That's some scary shit. How man times have you heard of someone breaking a bone in their back and becoming paraplegic? Luckily, DJ is a trooper and is expected to recover fully not too far down the line. Keep your head up, buddy.

There isn't really all that much for me to update on. I've been busy with school and work and the weather has taken a turn against us. Back to freezing wind and skating only a couple times per week. Bummer.

Last night I was walking home in a state of shock - a weather-induced shock. I was thinking to myself, "I wish it was summer again." I'd imagine most people were thinking that last night honestly. Well, the closest I came to making it summer was turning my heater on full blast, using a Main Ingredient song, and choosing all-warm weather footage. Here is the result, hope you enjoy.

October Again...

The 1 year anniversary of this site is coming up in 10 days, and while it would probably be more timely to post an update on the 21st, I have an update ready for today and don't feel like waiting to post it.

First off, Gavin Macmahon Nolan has entered the Bangyoself! contest on The Berrics and footage is bangin to say the least. Do yourself a favor and check that out. The voting is next Thursday, so write Berra some emails about Gavin.

Second, I have to shout out some independent videos that have come out recently. Windows and Doorways out of Cleveland, OH definitely hits on that Joe Castrucci/Habitat feel but it's unique. Cleveland has some cutty spots to offer! You can buy it here. A Happy Medium also came out of Arizona, featuring some Arizona rippers. Here's the promo. Buster O'Shea is definitely one of the better independent filmers, so support him to make more. Finally, Boondoggle, out of Minnesota, has some really impressive filming/editing/skating. Davis Torgerson's part has been leaked awhile ago and it's banging. You can buy it here.

I wish I could have been there longer - the city has a lot more spots and skateboarders to offer, but a 17-day trip isn't enough time to cover an entire skate scene. Not to mention the fact that Sziget festival was going on, which meant less time for skating and more time stuck in traffic getting to spots. Alas! Next year....

Yeah, so it's pretty pathetic that I haven't updated this in a month and a half, but I'm sorry. I've been traveling... I was in Budapest for 2 1/2 weeks, so get hyped to see some footage from spots you'll probably never skate. I definitely recommend anyone to visit the city if you have the opportunity - good spots, great beer, and amazingly fine women. What else do you really want in life?

I was also in Worcester last weekend, and that's the reason for this post. I basically just pointed the camera at Nate for the first ten minutes we were out skating, and as expected, funny shit happened. Enjoy!

Wormtown Visit

So we had an unofficial RAW tour last weekend to the far land of Worcester. Now I know what you're thinking - it's only 40 minutes away from Boston. Those 40 minutes however make all the difference. It's a different world out there, where not every ledge is made granite and where it appears the population does not leave their house on a Saturday. A cop even pulled up to ask me (specifically me) if anyone had touched the door across the street from the ledge we were skating, and after I replied no, he had no problem with us skating. The cops out there have it right.

Unfortunately, a few people got worked in Worcester, namely Waffle, Zeb, and myself. Waffle's slam is in this newest log clip, Zeb's was pretty similar, and mine came from filming. Yup, that's right. Apparently, leaning over in an awkward position filming for an hour and half can fuck your back up enough that you can't go to work two days in a row. Awesome!

Belated Celtics Win, Belated Go Skate Day, Belated Clip

Well it would appear I'm just slacking on every front of my blog. I didn't post for the Celtics championship win, which still isn't old news in my mind. Fuck them soft ass Lakers, Game 6 was proof that the Celtics were the best team in the NBA by a long shot. I also didn't post for Go Skateboarding Day, where Orchard/RAW threw a supposedly great little skate jam. I had work so I only made it for like the last 10 minutes of the session. RE1000 took home the C-Lo championship, I'm still not sure why he hasn't recieved his 9k ring for that. The competition was rough - he took some little kids lunch money without shame.

As for actual video updates, I really haven't even been able to film that much lately. I have a new clip in the works, but not enough footage for that yet due to the unbelievably shitty Boston weather. It's been raining for like two weeks basically. However, summer sessions are in full effect, Brett Starr is back in town, and the weather looks good today - so who knows? You might even get a new log clip tomorrow or the day after.

Sorry that it's been a month since the last update. I've been pretty busy with work, interning, and skating so I apologize for the lack of updates. Things are happening in Boston though, rest assured. This scene doesn't stand still for more than a couple of minutes.

What's the biggest news in Boston? You probably already know the answer, but the Garden was home to an epic game last night. Paul Pierce came through with a 4 point play, back to back threes after a knee injury, and all-around amazing play. Ray Allen is back to stay as well - I was getting worried for those first two and a half series. Needless to say, I'm antsy for Game 2 and another win for the Celtics. FUCK KOBE!

As far as skating goes, Waffle showed me a part outta Cincinnati. The dude's name is Alex Davis, and I suggest you check it out. The dude has an ill style and skates some of the rougher spots I've seen. Shit's sick! On a whole different nouveau of skating, Jesus Fernandez and Javier Sarmiento have some new footage. It's amazing. I don't even really know what else to say about it.

Smiling Faces Sometimes Tell Lies

I'm sorry that it's been a minute since the newest update. Just finished school for the summer, thank god, and I can get back to my normal skate/work routine. The weather has been getting better and better (with the exception being today) and with that, the skating has been getting more frequent and even better than before. Just the other day, you would have thought Navy Yard was a skatepark. So many people killing it in one day, I can't even explain.

Big news for the Boston skate scene - RAW and RE1000 have come out with Know the Ledge Vol. 2, available to watch on 48blocks.com. The RAW site should be done soon too, so hopefully you can just go to the source. For those that are lazy and want to watch some of the highest quality skating in the lowest possible video quality, it's up on PooTube as well. Shame on you if you can't wait 2 minutes for it to load on 48blocks. Congratulations to everyone that had footage in the clip and a special thanks to Kevin, Steve, and Ray for making it all come together. I just held the camera, but they had to get footage from lazy filmers, from lazy skateboarders, and find the dopest soundtrack possible.

Also, I just got this linked from RE1000, but 48blocks did a Sean Mullendore interview. I just remember thinking that dude was so ill from old ProgressionVM's and missed seeing footage from him. But definitely peep his 48blocks interview and footage - it may be old, but the guy still has more pop than most do today.

Spring's Here!

Finally spring is here - and there's no more reason to complain about the weather... What am I gonna blame how much I suck on now? Hmm, for the time being I can blame my groin muscle, which was tweaked in an unfortunate board saving accident. Lucky for you, pulled muscles mean more footage!

First off, thanks to 48blocks.com for uploading the new log clip before this blog entry was even up. Damn! Nate's becoming a regular for their news feed - guess that means SF heads understand how hard people in Boston kill it.

A Taste of Spring

I'm aware it's been a few weeks since I've posted anything, but this update was worth the wait, I promise. We've gotten lucky in the past few weeks, the winter is (very slowly) fading and spring is starting to kick in. Matter of fact it's like 55 degrees out, not sure what I'm doing inside.

First off, I bought a digital camera so get ready for both video and photo updates. Just a few off the bat.AQ Seshes are back on. Zeb taking a break.

Well, again, it's been a long time since I updated... I apologize. It's been hard to get much footage during the winter and well, I'm not gonna lie, I'm lazy.

Well, a few things to update. First off, peep this clip from Chris Mulhern. They obviously travel a lot - living the life. Wish I could take a few months off school and skate London.

Second, here's a clip that Adam Russel edited. Some footage of him and others in Albany at The Shelter. Shit's dope!

Lastly, new PJ footage! If that's throwaway footage then I can't wait for a real part from him. Also, peep the King of Barcelona clip because Tommy has really sick shit in there.

Back In Boston

Well, it's been quite awhile since I've updated the blog, but it's also been over a month since I've even touched my camera. Thank the fantastic East Coast winter for the lack of updates.

I missed the good weather, because I've been on vacation in Budapest for the past three weeks. Because of this, I decided to quit sitting on the footage from Jonah's box. I wish there was more footage because much more could have (and did) get landed, but I doubt we'll be able to skate there for awhile. No more excuses, here's the footy.

A Warm Thanksgiving

Well, just got back from Cali on Sunday. It's weird that it was warm for Thanksgiving - haven't had that in awhile. Good news was however, that I got to skate comfortably instead of in the nice, cold Boston weather. Props to Jordan Conway for showing me some SD spots.

The other good part of being in Cali was being able to drive up to Newport Beach and skate with John and Tommy for a day. Skated a pretty dope spot near where they were staying and came up with this.

Well, kiss summer goodbye. The seasons are changing and winter is rapidly approaching us. Regardless of the harsh temperatures, we've still been skating and getting footage - it's just gotten harder to stay motivated. Fuck it - I should be stoked because this is the best weather we're gonna have in the next 3 months and we can still skate outside.

Fall Back

Well, the time change was yesterday and I can safely say that fall-back sucks. It's already completely dark by 5pm - who really wants to get out work/school when it's already dark? Also, anyone know the point of the time change? Whatever, looks like we're gonna be skating a lot of Copley and Financial in the next few months. Look forward to night footage, as I just ordered a light.

On a more positive note, skate videos are on the up! For those who weren't lucky enough to get a "sneak preview" on the new Habitat flick on Youtube, the video is fucking amazing. Finally a new skate video that is good from beginning to end! I can't wait for the DVD to come out so I can see it with no breaks and better quality. Joe Castrucci - put the video out already!

Red Sox and Jonah Miller!

Well, Red Sox nation just went insane last night all over Boston and in front of my apartment (footage to show later) in celebration of the World Series sweep! Great series - the sweep and scores don't indicate the intensity of each game. Great post season and 2 World Series wins in 4 years for the underdogs of baseball history!

In other news, the underdog (and possibly nicest kid) of Boston came through with a line yesterday. Jonah Miller, owner of Turnstyle Clothing, is back at 'cha with the realness! Check out his Myspace and you can get your hands on some of his clothing at True East. If you don't frequent the shop, hit him up on Myspace and I'm sure he'll work something out with you. Check out his site too!

Skate Videos These Days...

Well, Nike just previewed their new video, "Nothing But The Truth," to Boston. What happened to skate videos actually showing skateboarding? I think skateboarding needs an influx of old school editing. The Nike video ran at almost 90 minutes, which is just absurd. Not only does a video that long have excess footage that shouldn't have made the edit, but "skits" in skate videos should be reserved for bonus DVD material. However, kudos to Nike for the free popcorn and new Lewis Marnell, Wieger (holy shit), P-Rod, and Gino footage!

Skateboarding is now at it's most popular, yet with this addition of corporate funds, skate videos seem to be taking a turn for the worse. Skate videos shouldn't need $50,000 funding - yes I'm aware that is probably a complete understatement for the budget Nike had. All you need a camera, your friends, and some good quality skateboarding. I hate to be the guy that complains, but the latest videos (with the exception of Listen's "Viajeros Locos") seem to disappoint.

Well after all that complaining, it's hard to post footage and expect a free pass from scrutiny. So if you have a comment about my clips, please leave them. I love critique, especially harsh ones (if they are valid).

Nike Premiere and Footy

Last night was fun - props to everyone who set up the Static 3 / Consolidated premiere at the Otherside. From one premiere on to the next however - Nike SB. Their video, "Nothing But The Truth" will be premiering this Thursday, the 25th of October at 7:30pm @ the Harvard Square theater. The address is 10 Church Street - it's right by the Harvard Square T-Stop.

Here's the trailer, just in case you haven't seen it. Should be an interesting skate video at the least, so drop by!

Well guys,

The Sox just made it into World Series and I can't think of a better time to start this. Boston just created the biggest buzz in the country, and it couldn't be timelier. The Boston skate scene has been creating a buzz for past while and I'm proud to have become a part of it.
